Floral Skirts

Normally when thinking about floral skirts, I think flowing, light fabrics and dainty prints. These straight, cotton skirts with boldly colored florals are feminine but definitely not prissy.

These geometric floral prints in this structured silhouette are definitely a great way to do florals at work.

ON does Suits?!

Old Navy has 3 Suit Collections available now: Linen, Railroad Stripe, and Classic. The only collection with a blazer is the Classic, but the skirt option is a mini, which is not very professional.

Not quite sure where ON was headed or who they were targeting with this collection since I don't think anyone who needs a suit would find these sufficient. Yet, nobody I knows would wear a suit to just chill out either. Nonetheless, as separates, these would be fine for a business casual environment.

Left to Right:

Classic Cropped One-Button Blazer,

Classic Pleated Miniskirt,

Railroad Stripe Wide-Leg Pant,

Linen Pencil Skirt

Cute Kohl's Stuff

Check out these adorable and affordable finds from Kohls.com!

With short-sleeves and made of cotton, the Simply Vera Vera Wang Ribbed Cardigan is an easy layering option. The slight gathering at the cuff of the sleeve is great and the 'Ruset Clay' color is so lovely.

The AB Studio Cardigan looks like it came from J.Crew, but at a fraction of the price.

Pretty, flowing skirts and warm weather go together so well. The apt. 9® Leaf & Flowers Yoked Skirt has a lovely border print.

These daisy fuentes® Sleek Flats in gold or silver have a charming braided rope-looking bow. The pointy toe helps to keep you looking long and lean.

Perfect for everyday, but not lacking in style, the multi-strandness of the apt. 9® Rectangle French Ironwork Bracelet gives this bracelet some added interest.

A chunky chain and fairly substantial sized stone makes the Sterling Silver Green Amethyst & Quartz Necklace a stand-out piece that is easy to wear.

Victoria's Secret VPL

Of all places, you'd think that Victoria's Secret would not have issues with their models having VPL.

However, when I came across this Pencil Skirt in Stretch Cotton, I realized that just because you're a huge lingerie company doesn't mean you'll equip your models with anti-VPL panties when they're on a photo shoot for your website and catalog.

Or perhaps, that IS anti-VPL underwear and the skirt is JUST THAT TIGHT. The skirt looks pretty hot on the model and trust VS to create a curve-hugging pencil skirt, but this is a little too skin-tight for my liking.

It's a shame, because it does come in my current favorite neutral - navy.

Cotton Pique Pencil Skirt

How to get in trouble shopping online:

(1) Have practical guidelines like the one from the previous post about how white is hard to buy online.

(2) See something like this Signature Stretch Piqué Collection Pencil Skirt.

(3) Start making up exceptions to get around practical guidelines (e.g. cotton pique is usually a thicker fabric and less likely to have the sheerness issue).

The skirt is very shapely made a unique fabric with an interesting texture. However, is it worth going against the almighty guidelines?

If not, it does come in black and scarlet also.

Green Shell, White Skirt

One of my favorite new items in my wardrobe is the City Style Scoop Neck Shell. It's a lovely fresh green color and incredibly soft (fabric content is 58% silk, 22% nylon, 20% rayon). It's like my favorite tank tops but much more dressed up. I like pairing with a sweater jacket or blazer. Plus, I don't mind leaving the jacket/blazer open because unlike my favorite (read: dingy and well-worn) tank tops, this top is presentable.

I would love to wear the shell with this fantastic City Style Button Skirt. The vertical row of buttons is lengthening and looks cool. Sadly, most of the white skirts at the New York and Company store were pretty sheer and this one probably falls in the same category. It's difficult to find white skirts/pants that aren't see-through, so it's usually best to shop for these items in a regular ol' store where you can check for sheer-ness.

Bright Sweater-Jacket & Skirt

The 525 Toggle Hoodie is a thick knit toggle sweater-jacket is a great substitute for a light jacket on those spring days. The lovely lemony color is perfect.

A bright colored skirt will definitely make a statement this spring, especially in this sexy and shapely Susana Monaco Slim Skirt.

Black & White @ ATL

A basic combo of black and white is easy to wear, but always right.

Left to Right:

Textured Cotton Sheath Dress (it's nice to have pockets on a dress, but if you don't want extra attention to your hips, you may want to avoid this piece),

Floral Printed Scoop Neck Cardigan (a nice patterned knit, the row of buttons down the front creates an elongating line down the front of the torso),

Botanical Garden Pleated Skirt (linen is the perfect summer fabric, but it can look very casual, the floral print and contrast waistband and hem make this skirt more sophisticated).

A Few Picks from the Bluefly Pre-Spring Sale

Once the weather permits you to release your feet from the boot prisons, hurry to get a pedicure and then don a gorgeous pair of sandals like these Kenneth Cole New York Gold Suede 'Pleat Dreams' Thong Sandals. The color is so sunshine-y and cheery that winter will soon be forgotten.

You don't want to be weighed down when you're taking a leisurely stroll through the park, instead take only the bare necessities in the Linea Pelle Milk Leather 'Dylan' Stud Wristlet. A perfect size with an additional exterior pocket that provides easy access to that cash for buying that lemonade.

Pretty tops are necessary because you can't hide everything under a cute sweater or that adorable coat any more, the Susana Monaco Spring Green Ruched 'Ana' Banded Tank is aptly colored and has pretty gathers but also a tie-back waist for optimal figure flattery.

Last, but not least, what says warm weather more than a pretty, ethereal, silk skirt? The Eva Franco Tangerine Crinkled 'Bali' Silk Chiffon Pleated Skirt is such a phenomenal color with a delightful pattern and the light silk chiffon will have just the right amount of flirty movement.

The weather is supposed to get up to the 40's this week here in Boston - not quite ready for these adorable items yet, but there's no harm in being prepared, right? Bluefly's Pre-Spring Sale ends 2/27 at 6am EST!
