Steve Madden Flipperr Review

Recently, I needed to find a casual sandal that could easily be dressed up. The Steve Madden Flipperr Sandal really fits the bill.

The slender 2-inch wedge heel provides some lift, but doesn't take away any comfort (an important consideration for an everyday sandal).

I did have to go half a size up for my entire foot to sit properly on the footbed. The most difficult to fit part is the strap that goes over the foot since it's not adjustable, but luckily, my average width foot did fit comfortably.

The chain strap detail adds some panache to this simple sandal. Plus, it comes in oodles of colors (Black, White, Cognac (shown), Gold, and Silver) making it easy to match it to any outfit.

6pm.com Sale Items & Site Review

Zappos rarely has stuff that's on sale sale. That's because the stuff that WOULD go on sale at Zappos actually ends up at 6pm.com.

A post on the Zappos CEO Blog notes that the "6pm.com is for customers that are looking for a large selection of products at deep discounts" whereas "Zappos.com is for customers that want the very best customer service and the very best selection."

The Marc by Marc Jacobs Core Fabric Faridah in Natural Linen and Printed Canvas is currently only $170.20, which is 49% off retail. I'd jump at this bag if only it had a zipper close instead of a snap.

One of the best pumps I own, the Steve Madden Excitte Pumps are now only $36.80 (50% off). They are so comfortable, true to size, offer some toe cleavage, and are the perfect heel height. Still available in Black Patent, Brown Suede, Grey Leather (shown), and Red Leather.

The frustrating part about 6pm.com is that the testimonials found on Zappos are removed (they do leave the "Fit Survey," however). Also, there seems to be a few bugs on the 6pm.com site. When I went to browse "Brands" to look at everything on sale for MbMJ, but couldn't get there because the site told me it produced no search results. At least typing into the search box works. All in all, 6pm.com is a nice place to find some great deals, but with a few too many sacrifices from the customer. Just because customers want a great deal, doesn't mean they shouldn't also get reviews and a site that actually works probably. A well-functioning site is to be expected of an online retailer and reviews? Well, those don't cost anything. Easy improvements for 6pm.com to make and hopefully we'll see that in the future.

When paired with skirts or dresses, nude pumps or sandals can make your legs look miles long making them wonderful wardrobe staples (which is why all of the shoes shown here are clean, basic pumps or sandals).

It can be very frustrating to find the right pair of flesh-tone shoes and while we've tried to include some variation in color and while these may not include your ideal color/silhouette, hopefully this is a good starting point.

To aid you in your nude pump search, here are some of the colors to search for: beige, brown, ivory, natural, neutral, nude, sand, tan, taupe.

The good thing about shopping on the Internet is that you can search a lot of sites quickly which is way easier than running to all the shoe stores in your neighborhood and asking for nude pumps.

These are shoes that not everybody will like, but I think they're fantastic!

Sam Edelman Metallic Flats from SmartBargains

My last few shoe purchases were all for sky high heels and in preparation for spring, I'd like to have some flats to run around in.

Sam Edelman flats are pretty comforable and for the most part, they're cut a little lower with a touch of toe cleavage.

These Sam Edelman Cruz Metallic Leather Flats in pewter are so cool. I was never a fan of the big logo on the vamp (made famous by the Tory Burch Reva Flats), but these for some reason, I like these.

Keep up with the ombre trend in a subtle way with these Sam Edelman Carmen Ombre Flats with Chain. Shoes are a good way to incorporate trends without it being too "in your face" and thus it would be easier to keep wearing these when the trend dies down a little when you might not want to wear an ombre top or dress.

The Sam Edelman Cyprus Sequined Dress Flat is also pretty nifty. All glittery with sequins in a crosshatch sort of pattern in a rose gold tones that is different but still incredibly versatile. The perfect little flat to add some sparkle to an outfit.

Pretty Peep Toes for Spring

Spring is here! Time to take your feet out of their winter boot prisons and prepare them to be shown off.

Maxine of Canada Wedge Boot

Here's a quick update to the Maxine of Canada Wedge Boot mentioned in this post:

These boots are absolutely wonderful. They are fully lined (the description says shearling, but it's more of a soft squishy padding), with a zipper, the toe is round, and it's made of "AquaTan Waterproof Leather." The tag notes that "salt, dirt and grime" will wipe off.

The 2-inch wedge is incredibly comfortable. The chocolate color is deep and rich, the heel is a slightly lighter shade of brown. The shaft of the boot is soft but not slouchy per se. I ordered half a size up to accommodate thicker socks, but I would have been ok with my regular size also.

All in all, this waterproof suede boot is a steal at (currently) $46.00.

Tough Boots for (Next?) Winter

It took me way too long to figure out how important it was to own a good pair of boots.

These Indigo by Clarks Women's Drake Mid-Calf Boot are perfect. A good rubber sole and a sockliner make sure this boot will keep you on your feet and warm.

And while some boots that help brave the winter elements look dorky, these are so cool looking and would be wonderful with your favorite pair of jeans. Oh, and no need to worry about these going out of style because these equestrian-style boots are so simple, they're timeless.

Simply Vera

Was browsing the Simply Vera by Vera Wang collection at Kohl's and found some cute stuff.

The Framed Canvas Satchel is a great shape that's been out there for spring but made in an unexpected material. The delightful "plum" purple and the contrast piping and handles make this bag different from all the others in your wardrobe. It's adorable how the handle on the exterior pocket is so unexpected and makes the bag look like it's smiling!

A couple of peep toe flats like the Vague Ballet Flats and Incisive Ballet Flats would be perfect for a business casual environment. The buckle details on these flats adds some interest to this basic little shoe.

Gorgeous Sandals (and a Sale)

These Elie Tahari Seaway Suede 'Riley' Sandals are so pretty. The little adornment on the vamp is incredibly eye-catching.

For this style of sandal, always be careful that your foot isn't hanging off the front/sides - a good fit is imperative here.
